Deepak Chopra: Hidden Meanings

“Whatever relationships you have attracted in your life at this moment are precisely the ones you need in your life at this moment.  There is a hidden meaning behind all events, and this hidden meaning is serving your own evolution.”  Deepak Chopra

Do you agree with this?  Do you have an example?

I invite you to share your thoughts by leaving a comment.

Hi Terry! I agree wholeheartedly with Deepak. This is a lesson I’ve learned over and over in life. Most recently, I had to sell my home a year ago due to an adjusted mortgage rate that I could no longer afford. (Yep, I’m a big fat example of the sub-prime debacle). Because I was so discouraged about my situation, I decided to move back to the beach. I figured if I was going to be broke I was at least going to be broke near the ocean. There, I found a job that has increased my income by over 50% and I’m engaged! Life has definitely taken a path I would never have dreamed of a year ago. All of the good things that are happening now would not have been possible if it weren’t for the hard times I endured last year. Although at the time all I could see was that life kept kicking me down no matter how hard I tried to stay ahead.

Sherry, what a great story. Everything does happen for a reason. I know it is hard to see through the pain when we are learning our lessons, but when we look back we can see the value in those lessons. When I lost my job a few years ago I was devastated, but it pushed me to return to school and it was about this time I found that I had a little talent for writing. I did get another job–a better job, and I’m happier now than I have ever been. In fact, losing my job was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Go figure. LOL

I agree with Deepak ~ there are no mistakes! Life is what we’ve drawn to ourselves.

I don’t know the author. So in my opinion this is what I think. I think that I agree some what with surviving your own evolution, like having your own agenda. Evolution is about change or developing. Darwin said survival of the fittest. If you do not change, adapt or evolve then that would be counterproductive you could die off. Those “precisely the ones you need in your life at this moment” are the one who you need support and motivation from. With out a strong foundation you are unable to build. I do believe that it is hard not to be selfish and that it is important to evolve with those that you are in a relationship with grow together in a sense. You or those who are in the relationship with you may die off without evolution. Dad???

Sara, if we look at this from a purely biological stand point then we can only grow and evolve if we adjust to our circumstances. When a species adjust it adapts to it’s environment, but if it doesn’t it will not survive.

I believe Deepak is trying to encourage us to not get discouraged when things in our lives don’t go our way. If we can look at every situation as an opportunity to learn something about ourselves we will evolve into a better people. Or, we can wallow in self-pity crying ” why me” all the time, but when we are busy wallowing we miss out on the opportunity to grow. If we don’t grow we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of our past over and over again until we learn our lessons.

This is why you will see miserable people bringing into their lives the same old garbage time and time again. And this is why these stubborn fools keep drawing into their lives new situations that give them an opportunity to learn the lesson the didn’t learn the first time. Don’t you know people who keep doing the same thing expecting different result every time ? Doesn’t it confuse you as to why they do so?
